I just wanted to let you know that our swim a thon will take place on 11/22.  This is a change to maximize the # of swimmers that can attend.  I believe that most of our swimmers practice on that night so hopefully this will be easier for everyone.  We will run the program during regular practice time (those that only swim for 1 hour and can swim up to 200 lengths will probably need to stay a full 2hrs).  We will need parents to come help count laps.  Please send me an email if you are willing to help.

You can start asking your family, friends and neighbors to sponsor your swimmer.  Sponsorships can be given on the # of laps a swimmer thinks they can swim or a flat amount just for participating.  Envelopes should arrive early next week and will be sent home with the swimmers.

This is our biggest fundraiser for the season and we are asking that every swimmer collect at least $100.

Every participant receives a certificate of participation.  Those the complete 100 or 200 lengths receive a swim a thon pin.  And there is a tier award system for those that collect sponsorships above $500.

$500 - $749.99 – t-shirt

$750 - $999.99 – towel

$1000+ - bag

If for some reason your swimmer cannot participate in the swim a thon they are still responsible for raising $100 in fundraising for the team.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

This was a fun event last year so I am looking forward to another great swim a thon.

Members of the Duanesburg Electric Eels gather in Schoharie over Labor Day Weekend to Volunteer in the cleanup effort from hurricane Irene.  The swimmers assisted in demolition by removing water soaked insulation and wallboard, reconstructing washed out walkways and cleanup of mud covered items.

The bottle drive concluded Monday.  We were able to collect 23,410 bottles and cans which will bring in $1170.50 to the team.  Great job to everyone who help out with counting and donating.  A special thanks to the Rokos family as Dennis took the initiative to count while I was away and keep up on it throughout the time we had the truck.  We will be getting another truck at the end of the summer so keep collecting!!!

On our last home meet we collected $150 from concession.

We have $2451 left from last season’s fundraising.  So we currently have $3771.50 available.

We did not meet our projected numbers this season so we owe the Community Center about $2000 for pool time and Coaching costs.  That will leave us with $1771.50.  We will be purchasing an additional pace clock, some more jump ropes, hand paddles and fins.  We will also be taking out an eighth page ad in the Duanesburg Yearbook.  Before purchasing the above items we will be setting aside enough funds to pay League Fees and Official renewal fees.  I am attaching a breakdown of our fundraising efforts from last season and how the money was spent.
